NATURAL GAS OPERATIONS AT A GLANCE
COMMITMENT TO SAFETY AND RELIABILITY
As part of our commitment to uphold the integrity, safety, and reliability of our power plants, both Santa Rita and San Lorenzo underwent and passed inspections by Siemens in 2016. Inspections were strategically scheduled at intervals to minimize plant downtime.
During the scheduled maintenance outage of Unit 20 in August 2016, however, tests carried out on Unit 20 showed damage in its main generator transformer. To resolve this, the spare transformer available on site was used to expedite the restoration work, which was completed in just over a month in September 2016.
As a result of the extended maintenance check, Santa Rita generated 6,666.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh), which was lower than the 7,388.1 GWh it delivered in 2015.
However, the San Lorenzo plant made up for it by generating 3,769.5 GWh in 2016, which was higher than the 3,725.2 GWh it delivered in 2015.
ZERO LOST TIME
Meanwhile, there was no recorded Lost Time Incident (LTI) in 2016 for both plants, despite Malampaya gas supply curtailments from April 9 to 10 and from August 21 to 22, 2016. Prudent planning and proper scheduling of fuel imports enabled the Santa Rita and San Lorenzo plants to operate on liquid fuel during the scheduled maintenance outages.
