HYDRO AT A GLANCE
FG Hydro saw continued growth in 2016. The power generation of its PMHEP complex improved by 19.3 percent thanks to significantly higher reservoir elevation achieved at the start of the year. This higher reservoir elevation can be attributed to typhoons Lando and Nona, which made landfall during the last quarter of 2015. The unexpected arrival of the typhoons that filled the reservoir with more water enabled the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) to project a wider area to be irrigated in 2016, which ultimately contributed to better power generation for FG Hydro. This improvement in power generation, in turn, increased the capacity factors of both plants.
FOCUS ON SAFETY
FG Hydro’s focus on safety resulted in an award from the Safety and Health Association of the Philippine Energy Sector (SHAPES) last December 7, 2016. This is in recognition of FG Hydro’s achievement of working 4.4 million man-hours with no LTI. This has been an ongoing record ever since FG Hydro took over the PMHEP complex on November 18, 2006.
Not to be outdone, FG Bukidnon was once again the recipient of two (2) safety awards after attaining zero LTI in 2016. These awards came from national safety organizations, the Safety Organization of the Philippines, Inc. (SOPI) and SHAPES, in coordination with the Department of Energy (DOE).
